PLEASE NOTE:
HEART is committed to survivor advocacy and a part of that is to be transparent. In working in the field of gender based violence and sexual health education, we want to disclose that HEART staff are considered mandated reporters. Our role is not only to commit to confidentiality, but this also means safety.
Further we wanted to disclose and share that we understand the limitations and barriers of mandatory reporting and how it can further cause harm in our communities. We hope to exhaust all levels of resources and support before we are mandated to file a report.
To learn more about mandatory reporting, and the role we may have to play if anyone who is a minor or an elderly exposed to and/or experiencing violence, please check out more information at: Mandatory Reporting is Not Neutral
