Sameera Qureshi holds a degree in Occupational Therapy and spent her professional career working with children with special needs before transitioning to a community development role.
From 2011 – 2015, Sameera led a school-based team in Calgary, Canada to integrate Islamic sexual and mental health curricula within Islamic schools, mosques, and for professionals working with Muslims. She joined HEART in 2013 and is the Programming Strategy Director. Sameera is passionate about combining research, Islamic spirituality and sexual health to create practical programs that are accessible to Muslim communities.
Her areas of expertise include curriculum development and facilitation; values-based sex education; systemic approaches to sexual violence prevention and sex education; and professional development for those who work with Muslim communities.
Sameera currently lives in Northern Virginia and apart from her work with HEART, she is a registered yoga instructor.
