Trauma-Informed Collective Care for Survivors in Crisis
The number one reason survivors stay in or return to abuse is because they cannot afford to get or stay safe. Although survivors form a huge percentage of the population, HEART research showing that 100% of Trans and GNC individuals, 97% of women, 86% of men surveyed report having experienced sexual violence, resources and support systems that center those survivors’ needs remain scarce.
The Survivor Care Fund is how we disrupt the narrative and show survivors that they are not alone, that they have a loving community behind them. The funding is solely used to support survivors of violence. 100% of your donation – the Fund is entirely supported by the individual kindness of people like you! – goes to funding critical services for survivors in times of crisis to ensure their wellbeing.
Why does my gift matter?
The research is conclusive: economic abuse remains the most significant barrier to survivors leaving abusive environments. Survivors report their most urgent need to get and stay safe is cash, followed by mental health support, credit and debt relief, and community.

Survivor Care Fund Recipient
“[HEART] centers the wellbeing of survivors in a way that does not shame or scrutinize unnecessary details of their experience so that [survivors] feel supported, believed, and able to move forward without added trauma.”
HEART Partner Organization
“When clients present a great financial need related to gender-based violence, our advocates present to them opportunities like the Survivor Care Fund … The process has been usually very fast; rapid payments have been super helpful … One of our clients used the fund to help pay for her baby delivery with a midwife. Being an undocumented immigrant with no insurance and barriers to healthcare, delivery with a midwife was the only option … The Fund came just in time to assist with this process.
