In 2018, HEART’s first campus chapter was born. HEART at UCI (University of California, Irvine) was formed through the vision of Muslim student leaders on campus who wanted sexual violence awareness and supporting Muslim survivors centered. These students saw a gap in meeting these needs, and worked tirelessly to incorporate themselves as a student group. Given their groundbreaking work and success on campus during their first year, HEART at UCI received an award of recognition for their contributions to advocate and initiate projects of historically underrepresented students on campus.
HEART at UCI is currently leading the formation and support of a West Coast Regional Coalition, where Muslim student leaders from any West Coast college can join to receive support and mentorship to lead sexual violence awareness initiatives at their campus.
